First YISD school board meeting of 2020

Yorktown ISD’s board of trustees held their first regular meeting of 2020 last week on Monday, Jan. 20 with several key items to discuss, including updates on the renovation process. With January being school board recognition month, a dinner was provided before the meeting to thank the trustees for the dedication to Yorktown ISD.
Following their dinner, a packed-house crammed into the library at Yorktown Junior High School for the meeting. With no one to speak during public comments, special presentations proceeded with students honoring the trustees with gifts for their service. Elementary students delivered candy and cards, while junior high and high school students made framed artwork for each board member and hand delivered it to them at the meeting.
During administrative reports, athletic director John David Caffey noted the business of spring sports. Not only is district basketball underway, but a slew of other sports have started or will soon start.
