Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for a home in Yorktown. Covering five counties, including DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca and Victoria, the local Habitat for Humanity is also nearing completion of a home in Cuero. They hope to soon be underway on the Yorktown home.

“We do have the land,” executive director Cynthia J. Staley stated. “The next step is to find the family then raise the money and have volunteers.”

They have some core volunteers but need the support of many more to build the home, as well as additional funding for the Yorktown home.

It took about 18 months to find the family in Cuero, but it typically only takes three to four months.
