Serve Outdoors

For over a decade now, the DeWitt County Extension Office has been partnering with the Matagorda Bay Chapter of Serve Outdoors to provide an annual hunting event for disabled veterans. Not only does it touch the participants, but it has changed the lives of those in leadership roles within the organization.

As the DeWitt County Extension Agent, Anthony Netardus lines up the land owners with guides and hunters for the weekend. This year’s event was held April 6-8.

4-H students from the county help prepare the meals throughout the weekend.

The event would not be possible without the efforts of Serve Outdoors.

“The folks from Serve Outdoors correspond with the hunters,” Netardus said. “They also have supplies and provide a lot of the food, as well.”

There were some new land owners who joined this year, but many return each year.
