Yorktown FFA Livestock Show auction brings in over $129K
The Yorktown FFA Stock Show went off without a hitch over the last weekend. Nice weather and hardworking exhibitors made for a successful weekend; the total number brought in was $129,277.00. Watching the premium auction, which was hosted by Auctioneer Joe Adams, emotions were high and grateful when “sold” was finally said.
This year’s Grand Champion Steer went to Blake Boyd; the steer weighed 1,183 lbs and sold for $6,500. Buyers were Cuero Livestock, DeWitt County Producers Association, Seiler Hay Service, Cuero National Bank, Weber Motor Co., and Leske Oil Co. The Champion Buckle was contributed by Nixon Livestock. Yorktown FFA Showmanship winners were Devin Leister, Lacie Rios, Caylen Boehm, and Jaclyn Gwosdz.
The Showmanship Judge was Aaron Wilson. Buckles were contributed by Capital Farm Credit of Kenedy. Leroy Ruppert Herdsman Awards went to Kobe Alvarez, Caylen Boehm, Lacie Rios, and Blake Boyd. The Herdsman Judge was Maggie Fetzer, and was sponsored by R= Cattle Company-Carl Clyne.
Yorktown FFA 2019-2020 Officers are President and Sweetheart, Katy Gwosdz, Vice President, Brooklyn Corpus, Secretary, Karissa Gonzales, Treasurer, Dylan Respondek, Reporter, Kaley Lassmann, Sentinel, Caylen Boehm, Student Advisor, Chelsea Hays, and Chaplin, Arianna Eaton.
This year’s Yorktown FFA Stock Show Livestock judge was David Flemming, with Thomas Stepanski as the Project Judge. Everything ran smoothly with Yorktown ISD’s Shelby Vandenburg, Ag Advisor, and Stephen Gowens, Ag Mechanic behind the scenes. Stock Show Directors are: President, H.R. Krause Jr., Vice President, Ricky Deal, Treasurer, Michael Gwosdz, Secretary, Melissa Alcazar; Kristine Schroeder, Carl Clyne, Carl Eichhorn, Crystal Eichhorn, William Warwas, Margaret Krause, Anthony Corpus, and Evan Karuse.
