Cuero Junior High School student Jaden McCarter won her second straight USA Gymnastics National Championship earlier this summer in trampoline, this year competing at Level 8. The win marked her coach’s, Chad Ganaway, 19th consecutive year with a national champion gymnast.

“It’s kind of hard, because there are a lot of girls there but then again, it’s pretty easy, because it’s a normal competition,” McCarter said of her national championship on July 7 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

McCarter has been a gymnast since she was six. Five years later, she’s made her way up from Level 5. Level 10 is next.

“Her first year at nationals, they’re usually just getting their feet wet at that point,” Ganaway noted. “Last year, as a Level 6, she ended up winning every single meet. She beat 73 kids at regionals and 65 at nationals to be the Level 6 champion.
